WINTER SPORTS - PHYSICAL FORMS AND PAY-TO-PARTICIPATE
The official start date for the practices/tryouts for Boys' and Girls' Basketball, Coed Rifle, Wrestling and Coed Swimming/Diving will start Monday, November 18. Winter Track will begin on Wednesday, December 4.
PIAA REQUIRES ONE SPORTS PHYSICAL PER YEAR. Sports physicals for the 2019-2020 school year must be administered by an Authorized Medical Examiner (MD, DO, PAC, CRNP, SNP). The sports physical is valid until May 31, 2020.
SPORTS PHYSICALS - student-athletes who participated in a fall sport this school year or had the opportunity to have a sports physical (section 1-6) completed, regardless of when performed during the school year, the student-athlete will not need another sports physical if they will be participating in a winter sport. However, a parent/guardian must complete a Re-certification for Sports Participation Form (section 7) to be eligible to participate in a subsequent sports season in the same school year.
RE-CERTIFICATION FORM FOR THE WINTER SPORTS SEASON...The re-certification form must be completed not earlier than six weeks prior to the first practice day of the winter sports season, which is Monday, October 7, 2019 or after, but before Monday, November 18, 2019.
SPORTS PHYSICALS FOR THE WINTER SPORTS SEASON...if the winter sports season is the first time the student-athlete is obtaining a sports physical, it is best to try and complete the sports physical six weeks prior to the sports season, which is Monday, October 7 or after. If the sports physical is completed/dated prior to Monday, October 7, then you must follow through with the re-certification process as stated above.
REMINDER...Free sports physicals are offered at the IRMC Urgi-care facilities in Indiana and Blairsville for Indiana Jr. High and Sr. High School athletes in grades 7-12 only.
PAY-TO-PARTICIPATE FORM... A pay-to-participate program fee is in effect for students who are participating in certain extra-curricular activities at the junior and senior high schools. Pay-to-Participate is a per season charge, not a per activity charge. The activities that fall under each season are listed on the Pay-to-Participate form.
The fee schedule is as follows:
$20 per student per season, regardless of the number of activities in which the student participates during a season.
$50 per student for all activities for the school year (one-time payment); or
$100 per family for the year, regardless of the number of children or activities.
Waived for any student who is eligible for free or reduced lunches. The school district will confirm eligibility.
All forms must be sent to IASD Administration Office, 501 East Pike, Indiana, PA 15701. Payment can either accompany the form or be made on the myschoolbucks.com website. If making payments via myschoolbucks.com, please complete the form as well and send the form to the administration office. If you plan to drop off the form in person, YOU MUST CALL AND MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO DO SO IN ADVANCE. Checks should be made out to: "Indiana Area School District."
The form is available on the school district website (www.iasd.cc), the athletic website - (www.indianahsathletics.org) under FORMS & LINKS, and in the Athletic Office.
Students who have not paid the fee by the deadline date (see below) will not be eligible to participate until payment has been received. The Athletic Office will be responsible for determining that all students on team rosters are eligible to play. A great deal more information can be found on the form itself.
