The Indiana Boys Varsity met tough competition in their sectional match up against the Knoch Knights at Andy Kuzenski field Friday evening. The Indians came out ready to play with a quick goal by sophomore Zak Wood within the first minute of the game. The Indians held the lead going into the second half, with a score of 9:7.
The second half stayed action packed while the Indians held their lead into the third quarter. However, the Knights wouldn't give up, leaving the Indians scoreless in the 4th quarter and slowly catching up in goals. With less than a minute on the clock, the Knights tied the score 12-12. In sudden death, the Knights put one more in the net ending the game with a final score of 13-12.
Scoring for IHS was sophomore Zak Wood (3), senior Conner Montgomery, freshman Ben Nettleton and freshman Carter Lychalk each had 2 and senior Grant Harkleroad (1).
Goals were assisted by sophomore Ethan Agnello (2), Zak Wood, Carter Lychalk, sophomore Sam Fefolt and Grant Harkleroad each had one.
Ground ball leaders were: senior Mikail Bajwa and sophomore Max Kovalchick (4), Zak Wood, sophomore Tanner Agnello and senior Axel Kovelchick (2) and Conner Montgomery and Sam Fefolt (1)
Tanner Agnello won 4 out of 11 face off's, while Ben Nettleton won 10 out of 11.
Sophomore goalie Ian Steele saved 9 shots on goal.
